Things to do

Kardamyli provides the perfect base for exploring the area known as The Mani and the Inner Mani.  There are many places to see and you don’t necessarily need a car to do this – although we recommend that you have access to one.

Kardamyli itself boasts many bars, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques where you can relax and indulge in some retail therapy.  The main pier (Tikla) in the town is a splendid place to swim from and even dive (there is a new diving board).  You will see many of the local inhabitants meeting daily to swim and, more importantly, to chat!

Old Kardamyli is an amazing well kept secret.  Visit the Mourtzinos Castle and walk around the quiet, cool streets and wonder at the beautiful architecture.  Explore the 18th century church of Agios Spiridon.  Visit Old Kardamyli restaurant – amazing sunsets and world class cuisine.

You won’t go hungry or thirsty in Kardamyli.

Beaches

Ritza Beach (the Town Beach) is located at the entrance to the town and has a few tastefully presented restaurants and bars which overlook the blue waters of the Ionian. It is a pebble beach but many of the bars/restaurants offer sunbeds. It is perfect place to unwind and spend long sun-kissed days.

Other beaches in the area area:

  • Kalamitsi – right beneath The Patrick and Joan Leigh Fermor house
  • Forneas – famous for its large, dramatic rock perfect for jumping and diving off (if you’re brave!)
  • Kalogria – beautiful sandy beach with lovely restaurants and cooler water than any of the other beaches as it is fed by a freshwater stream. The sea is amazing.
  • Stoupa – another sandy beach running along the town front.
  • Agios Nickolaos – further along and offering another Sandy beach with a small taverna.
